Are Organic Feminine Hygiene Products Worth It ?

Are you on a health kick? Most take this to mean dieting and exercise, but that’s not the only aspect of health that matters. Health includes your skincare. Health is your feminine hygiene. With the world traveling in the direction of organic everything, we can’t help but to ask the question - are organic feminine hygiene products worth it?

What does it mean to be organic? When dealing with your feminine hygiene, it means the products are made without pesticides, dioxins, perfumes, and scents. Does this mean that non organic tampons and pads include these? YES.

Now, before you have a conniption, it’s important to know that feminine hygiene products whether they’re organic or not are regulated by the FDA. This means that all the products available for purchase on the shelves of your grocery stores and pharmacies had to be approved. So even if you’ve been using non organic products before, it’s not at an immediate detriment. With that being said, you’ll find traces of dioxins, a bleaching rayon, and glyphosate, a pesticide, in your pads and tampons. Should you be worried? In the long run - yes.

Because the tampons or pads you use monthly may contain these extra chemicals, you need to be cautious. The vagina is a very delicate area of the body and introducing any chemicals to it can both change your body chemistry and health overall.

So are organic feminine hygiene products worth it? YES. While they might all look the same, the trace chemicals you’d find in their non organic counterparts should be enough to sway you from using them.

One point of contention for pro-organic products is that brands aren’t required to include the ingredients list. That means it’s up to you and your own due diligence. Be deliberate and shop organic!
